Before Your Procedure

It’s natural to feel a bit anxious before your procedure, this is completely normal. Try to relax and remember that the procedure will likely be much easier than you expect. Our experienced team is here to ensure your comfort and safety every step of the way.

Please review the following important reminders to help ensure a smooth and safe experience at the Endoscopy Center of Marin.

Your Health and Safety

For your safety, please notify our office if you are currently ill, or have been ill within the four weeks prior to your scheduled procedure. One of our Anesthesia staff will contact you to evaluate your symptoms and ensure your suitability for anesthesia. Based on that evaluation, your procedure may need to be cancelled or rescheduled as your safety is always our highest priority.

Please also notify your physician immediately before coming to the facility if you experience a significant change in your physical condition, such as a high fever, heart problems, or difficulty breathing.

Medical History and Pre-Procedure Requirements

You will receive an email and/or text message approximately eight (8) days before your procedure with a secure link to complete your medical history online.

We understand this may feel like a duplicate step, and we apologize for any inconvenience. However, it is both a legal requirement and a critical safety measure to verify that your medical history is current and correct before any procedure or anesthesia is administered. This ensures the safest possible care.

Please read the instructions provided by your doctor a few days before your procedure. If you have MyChart, you should be able to find your instructions there.

Colonoscopy Instructions can be found here.

If you have any questions about the preparation required, contact your doctor’s office directly through MyChart or phone (415) 925-6900.

Transportation and Accompaniment

You must arrange for someone to drive you home after your procedure. It is neither safe nor legal to drive after receiving sedation. Your procedure may be cancelled if you do not have a designated driver. Please note that cabs, Uber, Lyft, and other non-medical ride services are not permitted.

We ask that you bring only one person to accompany you.

Appointment Confirmation and Cancellations

A Nurse or CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) from the Endoscopy Center will call you the day before your procedure to confirm your appointment, review your arrival time, update your medical history, and provide any additional instructions.

Please note: A cancellation fee will apply if your procedure is not cancelled with at least seven (7) days’ notice. We encourage you to review your schedule carefully and contact our office promptly if you need to make any changes.
